Now this is a big question. Why should you invest in professional photographs of your much loved animals? Well the obvious answer is that you love them and you want to remember them in a beautiful way. You want their personalities displayed on your walls and in print but its a little more detailed than that....
Everyone loves photographs they are a daily part of our lives now with cameras on every phone, social media, the craziness of the selfie. The easy access to imagery now means a lot of people don't see the value in using a professional photographer. Anyone can have access to decent camera these days.
That doesn't make them a photographer or an artist.
A professional photographer is someone who knows how to craft an image from the moment they pose and light the subject to exporting the images from their editing software. They will know exactly how to create beautiful images, through composition, lighting and interaction. They would of through their own research and investment found the highest quality of products from beautiful prints to frames. Their whole livelihood is dedicated to creating amazing photographs through passion and skill.
The terribly sad thing is that people often don't value this skill until their beloved animals are reaching the end of their lives :( suddenly you find yourself in the horrible place where old age, illness or even accident means you will have to be saying goodbye and the importance of having just one perfect and beautiful photograph of them is no longer an after thought in the back of your mind. I have been there and I regret that I don't have many happy photos of me and Dizzy when she was still with me.
I am such a believer of the photograph and the sentiment it holds. As a family we invest so much in print, our house is literally plastered in frames and we have boxes stuffed with photographs (mostly of horses) They are the story of you and all that you hold dear including your animals.
But for your extra special memories, for the pieces of wall art displayed in your home and actually for the luxury and enjoyment of having a photo shoot a talented professional is the absolute way to go. There is such an enjoyment as a photographer when arriving on a yard or meeting dog owners to see that they are so genuinely excited to be creating something special with their animals. To be investing in the memories in the most beautiful way possible.
I myself will be booking a photographer this summer to have a session with Luke, Cleo, Esther and Pearl! I really want a big family photograph for an empty space in my dining room and obviously I want to be in the photo ;)
